Just when Obama had given numerous openings to McCain, his media team gratuitously sticks pictures of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears into an attack ad that obliterates the essential point of the spot. It is a bridge too far, even for some veteran Republican strategists, including Andrea Tantaros who found it “absurd and juvenile.”
It is. It is also beneath the dignity of John McCain, even if he did feel compelled to defend it. Obama stepped over the line with his speech in Berlin and some of the “one world” rhetoric he used. McCain’s media team had all it needed to make the point without drawing some imaginary connection to a couple spoiled bimbos whose fathers should have spanked them more when they were kids. So this week, instead of putting Obama on the defensive about the Berlin speech and his new world order, we listen to the talking heads talk about bimbos and the race card. Good way to lose an election guys. Have you noticed that not all Republicans are laughing?
