Talking to the press about your “game plan” and your strategy isn’t something you do unless you are doing it to throw your opponent. The articles are so numerous and the talk so free that it is obvious Obama’s people think they can or might succeed in scaring McCain into spending resources where he should not.
It’s a dangerous game they play and rarely does it work. McCain is too smart to fall for it. Sending highly paid staff to states Obama cannot possibly win won’t look like a smart decision if Obama begins to run short of money or falls behind in ‘must win’ states. And those generous donors Obama is counting on might be excused for wondering why their money is being spent in states he can’t win.
All this is too cute by half and even if true they should not be talking about it.
